Consisting of a network of more than 200 centres located in 35 European countries, EURAXESS can assist researchers and their families in every step of a move to a job abroad, starting in their home country and continuing until they are fully settled in their new home. EURAXESS also aims to provide a supportive platform for research institutions and bodies.

I’m a European researcher: what’s in it for me?

This free, personalised service is there to provide you with comprehensive, up-to-date information on job vacancies and funding opportunities in every field of study throughout Europe. It also acts as a first port of call on the topic of your rights, as well as those of research and funding institutions, and provides several links to help you both before and after you move.

Visitors to the website (which is as yet only in English) can post their CV online and immediately search vacancies in academic institutions, private research organisations and public research bodies, both within and outside the EU. You also get direct access to the national job portals of 35 partner countries, which contain information on research jobs and funding opportunities as well as on personalised services in each country – meaning that information on a whopping 3,000 research organisations in total is at your fingertips.

Moreover, EURAXESS provides advice and guidance on issues such as visas and work permits, accommodation, legal issues, social security, medical care and taxes, family support, and language lessons – the list is endless. Best of all, if any questions aren’t covered, you can find details of your nearest EURAXESS Help Desk and speak to an adviser in your own country (this service includes non-EU countries such as FYR of Macedonia and Turkey, amongst others).

Last but not least, EURAXESS provides a networking tool for European researchers working worldwide called EURAXESS-Links. Find out about networking events, access web discussions and keep up to date with news items. Membership is free.
