“Contacting EURES was the best thing I could have done for my career. Last year I sent a letter to my local EURES Adviser explaining that I wanted to do an internship in a wine company in Italy. Three months later, EURES Italy had found a position including accommodation and living costs. Soon after that I was on my way to Italy. The support continued throughout the internship. When I arrived in the country, EURES helped me to complete all the necessary documents. I’m very impressed by the services EURES provides,” says Dalma.

Studying the science of plant cultivation and horticulture had given Dalma a good insight into the theory behind growing grape vines. But to improve her practical knowledge and increase her chances on the labour market, Dalma wanted to supplement her studies with an internship in the wine sector.

“Vitis Rauscedo, the company where I did my internship, is not a wine producer as such, but they cultivate grafted plants to sell to wine producers. Much of the work goes on in a laboratory where I also worked. The internship gave me a deep insight into the whole wine production process – from seed to bottled wine,” explains Dalma.

The internship inspired Dalma to continue in this field and after saving enough money she hopes to start a Master’s degree in oenology. The experience also broadened her horizons: “I love the culture and the people in Italy, so I hope to move there when I finish studying,” concludes Dalma.
